Can I bring a friend with me to my appointment?
We are a small studio but feel free to bring one guest to accompany you if needed.
Will I be able to see my sketch before my tattoo date?
No. I like to create different options and variations for my clients. This is usually done digitally so I can present a dozen options/varitations to you at your appointment in a matter of minutes. We can make any adjustments you'd like at your appointment and you will never be pressured into getting tattooed. You're supposed to trust your tattoo artist :)
What can I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Preparing for a tattoo can reduce the process of getting a tattoo by hours, prevent unnecessary health complications, and ensure that the whole process is as pain-free as possible. Here are all the steps you need to take leading up to getting your new tattoo.
First, you’ll want to drink tons of water. Don’t drink any alcohol the day 0f/before your tattoo. These are blood thinners which will result in your tattoo bleeding and healing lighter than it should. Lastly, eat a large meal before you get your tattoo. Along with the water, this will help your tattoo heal quickly and recharge your blood with some essential nutrients.
*SHAVE the area you plan on getting tattooed.
What's your policy on "Touch Ups"?
You are guaranteed one free touch up within the first year of your tattoo. Touch ups are for correcting imperfections that might happen during the healing process. It's not unusual and I just want your tattoo to look its best. Touch ups are free as long as the aftercare instructions were followed. Additions, color changes, or refreshing faded colors due to sun exposure are additional charges. You are expected to take care of your tattoo by keeping it out of the sun, applying sunblock and moisturizing regularly.
Can you tattoo this exact tattoo on me **shows pic of someone else's tattoo**?
No. We take great pride in being a custom tattoo shop. I’d be happy to draw up something inspired by images you like but the goal is to create a unique, one-of-a-kind, custom tattoo for each of my clients; bringing their ideas to life. The art you put on your body should be as unique as yourself.
What if I don't like it?
I will always give you the absolute best tattoo I am capable of. It is best to circumvent the need for tattoo removal by choosing your artist and your design wisely. Check their portfolio. DO YOUR RESEARCH ON HOW THE SPECIFIC TATTOO YOU WANT WILL HEAL (fine line, finger, elbow, foot, ribs, color, etc. ) If you are not 100% sure…then don’t do it. Avoid trendy tattoos, and go for something symbolic and timeless. Remember that you are getting a tattoo that you want to be able to live with for the rest of your life. If for some reason you’re no longer happy with it, please email me and let’s see if there’s a way to tweak it or add elements to it. Ultimately I just want you to be in love with your tattoo.
What else do I need to know?
Please do not show up super early or late.
If you are 20 minutes late, you are considered a no-show and forfeit your deposit. Another deposit will be required to book a new appointment. Sometimes appointments do run longer than planned and you might have to wait a bit, or we can always reschedule you to a more convenient time.
Parking in San Francisco is always crazy.
Please allow yourself 30mins to find street parking or a lot.
I easily find parking every day on the nearby residential streets off of Market St. (Waller St., Elgin Park, Pearl St., Valencia, McCoppin, Octavia, Guerrero) all within one block from the shop. Map yourself to “44 Waller St.” and start looking there 👍🏽 For free parking, download an app called ParkMe.
Closest BART station is Civic Center (0.8 mile)
MUNI Train F - Market & Guerrero/ Gough (1 block away)
MUNI Train J - (Market & Church) is .5 mile (5 blocks away)
Do you do white ink tattoos?
No. White ink is too unpredictable and is best used as a highlight, to contrast dark colors next to it. White ink sometimes fades away after a few years.
Do you do color tattoos?
I used to do a lot of color, but prefer the contrast of black ink on skin. We can add color accents.
* I do not do the following tattoos due to the way they heal/look/or I just don’t feel confident in the subject matter:
- finger, knuckle, palm, side of hand/foot tattoos
- lip tattoos
- behind the ear or on the ear tattoos
- “band” type tattoos that involve a solid line going all the way around a body part
- Sun tattoos, dreamcatchers, phoenix, angels, animal paws, dragons, lettering.
